sawadikapppp!!

yeppp...i just got back from thailand on sunday morning...sorry about the misconception....was told last minute that my flight was changed from saturday night to sunday morning...sorry if u guys can't contact me then...

so anyway, thailand was not bad...though i didn't do much sight-seeing...mum and sis wanted to shop like mad, so i didn't dare make noise....they've been there many times whereas i've been there for like the first time...felt bad holding them back lah u know...

was there for about 6 days, had tummy problems for like 2 days...yeah i know, quite a bummer if u ask me...guess my tummy didn't adjust well to the environment and food there well or fast enough....

it was a bit of a culture shock there though...the pollution on the road was REALLY bad...pple wore masks on the streets and stuff...quite horrid though the pple there were really pretty...with all that pollution i dunno how they managed to maintain their looks...harhar...

oh yeah, the gang would be happy to know that they're plenty of ang mohs there. and i mean PLENTY. we saw a few at every turn and they're much much nicer and friendlier in thailand. serious!! mum, sis and i were so surprised, we actually talked to alot more pple(stranger kind) than over here...ang mohs here and booooo-ringgg...we met lots of funky ang mohs...though most were with their wives or gfs...-_-" oh well..haahaa.

the thais were really nice too...the stall vendors helped one another and "disturbed" each other when business was slow, so it was nice seeing them bond and fooling around even though the crowd was slow. they're really pretty, so im still kinda jealous about that. damn. *curses and swears* even the MEN turned WOMEN are hot...jeez...cause we went to the cabaret show the put up that consists of...transvastites if im not wrong (i'm not sure of the proper term)...sis and i were a bit depressed after that...lol...

but thailand i guess is known for their temples, temples and more temples...ang mohs dig that kinda culture and thai women, so if u want one go there and find one...lol...i saw alot of ang moh men arm in arm with a thai lady, so i guess u can tell what kinda culture u're in over there...

the night life was pretty cool, though it was a little scary as we went to alot of shopping areas that were open air and hot and stuffy and all...so naturally there would be alot of pickpockets and squeezing and rip-offs being tourists and all...sigh...was quite upset as i tried my hand at bargaining, only to find out that it was still pricey for a tiny bag that my sis wanted...-_-" guess it takes a whole lotta experience and the gift of the gab to pull something off....mum made noise about it, but i can't do anything now can i? oh well.

things there were really cheap, so naturally we shopped till we dropped, literally. the first two days we went to touristy places like the cabaret show, the temples, the leather shop and the gem factory....the next 4 days were just shopping, shopping and more shopping...i wanted to go to the reclining buddha and floating market to check it out...but mum and sis were so absorbed into their shopping i kinda forgot to remind them to book with the tour guide the tour package...-_-" oh well...i thought i could take some shots there and stuff for photography if i happen to take it u know? oh well...plus the fact that both were like an hour and a half drive away, mum wasn't too keen...so i was like okay...

so we spent most of the time in cha tu chak (heaven for singaporeans and bargainers), patpong, suan lam and big c (kinda like carrefour, its' just opposite world trade centre).

cha tu chak is a weekend market that everyone goes to to shop for very cheap stuff. it's hot as hell and crowded like anything, so u have to bargain. no one goes to thailand without going to cha tu chak, so i went there for a while for the experience. not really enjoyable cause of the heat, but got pretty good stuff there, so depends on how able u are to withstand heat and crampness. knowing me, i get frustrated and hot tempered easily when i'm hot, so i guess u can tell what it was like for me.

patpong is a night market, also really hot and stuffy as it's like a really long and big pa sar malam. also depends on your abillity to withstand heat and claustrophobia. difference about here is that it's like a mix of geylang and a pa sar ma lam as the borders were lined with strip clubs and joints with their doors open to drag expats and ang mohs in to watch the shows and drink in their clubs. even though we were 3 girls, they tried to persuade us to go inside to look too. -_-" what did we look like, lesbians?? yeesh...was quite put off about that, though i feel pity for them too as there were scantily dressed women dancing on bartops trying to make a living, so it's a hard life for the thais too u know? so...it was quite sad in a sense.

suan lam is also another night market. very huge place. also like a pa sar ma lam, but the items here are much more creative and like one in a million kinda stuff. things we saw here we didn't see anywhere else, whereas in other areas we saw alot of repeated stuff lying around in different prices. though it wasn't easy getting a bargain here, the things are more unique here tho they're not exactly cheap.

big c is not a big deal, mum wanted to buy essentials that were much cheaper in thailand, that's y we spent like a day and a half (well almost) there to buy things like shampoo, sanitary pads, body soap, blah blah blah there....it's like carrefour or giant...if you've been to one of those, you'll know what its like.

our hotel had lots of ang mohs, though mum wasn't too happy about that. when i asked her y, she said it makes the hotel a bigger target for bombing and terrorist attacks since a big population of ang mohs were there. oh well, we're back safe and sound, that's all that matters.

it was in thailand where we heard the news that yassa arrafat died. i didn't know who the hell he was till mum explained to me and sis. mum was shaking her head going "oil prices are gonna shoot up wayyyy high..." and stuff...went to visit my aunt who was working in bangkok and mum and her got into this long political argument about the bush and kerry voting...me and sis could only sit there and smile and pretend we knew what was going on...oh well. just goes to show how ignorant i am about news and how i'm not updated about it. i mean, i do try and watch news now and then, but i really don't know the significance of events happening and who's who, so it's hard you know? it's like, colin powell stepped down, so? what does this mean for the us? i don't know. what does he do? i don't know. he's the secretary of state, so? a black woman (i forgot her name, i'm not being racist or whatever, no offence) is taking over his place, so what? what does this mean? i don't know. how does this affect the whole system and the job she's gonna take under? i don' t know. politics and news are just so complicated and stuff...i just don't get it. it's hard keeping up, and i feel left out u know? its just like...i don't want to care, but it still matters since it's "general knowledge"...sigh...i hate politics. i hate news. period.

so anyway, thailand was okay...though it burned a huge hole in my mum's pocket...if i'm not wrong shopping took up like 1000+ bucks...sheesh....sis didn't wanna go home cause she loved shopping...i bet most of the stuff we bought was hers...harhar...

oh yeah, we went to ma bung kong as well...aka mbk...ALOT of singaporeans go there to shop for cheap prices. it's basically an air-conditioned shopping mall with cheap stuff u can buy. we went there and saw lots of locals that really disgusted me, made me feel ashamed to be a singaporean. we took the train to mbk, and these 3 singaporeans just rushed into the train for a seat and giggled to themselves when the whole carriage was empty. me and mum just rolled our eyeballs and stared at them. it's not like they were a bunch of 16 yr old bimbos or anything, they were full grown adults, 20ish 30ish kind with no manners. they were talking and laughing loudly in the train as if the whole train belonged to them like typical singaporeans. it was only one stop, but it was like eternity sitting there watching them making a fool of themselves.

so anyway, we got off and we saw this bag shop. mum wanted to get a pink bag, so we went to the shop to look around. guess what. we saw those 3 girls again bargaining for a bag my mum was considering. mum was so disgusted she was like "let's go". there was another 3 singaporeans there also, grabbing every nice bag they could find and screaming "180 180!!! not 199!!!!" and making alot of noise at the shop. the poor thai was trying to serve them all at once and looked so lost and confused. i was looking at a bag that i kinda liked and was about to ask for the price, only to find that those 3 were carrying the same bag and screaming at the top of their lungs for a cheaper price. naturally my face was like -_-". i was really disgusted and mum and me rolled our eyeballs and said "lets go" and swore off buying those kinda bags...quite funny though its really embarrassing and disgusting to see your own kind behaving this way...eugh.

so much later when we were about to go off, we saw the 3 from the train and they were carrying bags and bags of stuff, as if it were free...me and mum rolled our eyeballs again and were like "sigh...singaporeans..." lol. really sad if u ask me.

oh yeah, while we were at the airport, we went to a coffee place to chill out since we were still pretty early. this thai waiter kept walking past our table to see if we needed anything and we were wondering what he was doing. then later when he brought us our drinks, he asked where we were from. when we said singapore, he was like oh okay...i thought u were from japan or korea....(it was misleading cause of my sis...her fashion sense and all were very pro jap...hence the mistake) so this guy who was clearing up the next table said "oh...cause he asked me and i said i bet they're from singapore or malaysia...but he insisted u guys were from korea or japan...so he just had to ask..." then i was like "eh? how could u tell?" then he was like "cause i'm from singapore as well...but i migrated here..." then we were like ooooooohhhhh....it's funny how singaporeans can tell who are the singaporeans even in a foreign country...lol...

so anyway, this guy just kept purposely going past our table to get more looks of my sis....then later on when we were about to leave the guy was like "bill bill??" my mum nodded and he came over grinning like an idiot...after the bill was settled he was like "she pretty!!" and pointed to my sis....then's when we realised what he wanted....throughout the whole time we were there we didn't know what he wanted and what he was doing till he said that...lol....my sis after that was grinning from ear to ear while my mum was laughing her head off...i was laughing a bit too, though i was a little envious/jealous of some sort...i mean, it's nice to be told that you're pretty by some stranger you haven't met, so i guess it will be a good feeling u know? so i was like...oh well...beggers can't be choosers...haa.

soooo...that's about all i have to say about bangkok...it was kinda interesting, nice to get out of singapore once in a LONG while to see the world...though it does have its bad moments...oh well. if i have to sum the trip up in a sentence, it would be:

"It was eventful."

lol. hope it's enlightenment for you guys! seeu all around!! :)
